About Us
Barnacogue N.S is a rural two teacher school situated in an idyllic setting, just a few miles from Swinford town, under the wing of Knock Airport.
From the outside this unpretentious school building hides a myriad of secrets within. A purpose built school hall, a fully fitted kitchen and a bright and beautiful library are wonderful learning environments which are frequently used by the children. The two large classrooms house the most modern of teaching aids including interactive whiteboards, digital recorders and a fully stocked laptop trolley.
The outer school grounds includes a basketball court, a tennis court and a large green space on which the children regularly play gaelic football, soccer and rugby. Our beautiful sensory garden, vegetable patch, willow hut and plantation of trees facilitate outdoor learning, where we encourage a hands-on approach. We also welcome the younger generation to Barneys Busy Bees playschool and weekly mother and toddler group, which adjoins the school.
The most recent Whole School Evaluation is available to view on the Department of Education and Skills’ website.
