Defence Forces Visit The school - October 12th 2015

The excitement in Barnacogue was paramount today as children & teachers alike prepared for some important visitors to our school. The children watched with bated breath at every vehicle that slowed at the school gate and finally their waiting was rewarded with the arrival of 2 members of the defence forces dressed in full uniform. They were highly impressed with the children's knowledge of both the 1916 Rising & the protocol of the Irish flag. Along with the children they read the Proclamation & finally the youngest & eldest students in the school were presented with a copy of the Proclamation & our National Flag. We look forward now to raising the flag, along with every other Primary school in the country, on March 15th 2016 & we hope the sun will be shining as bright on our celebrations that day!
Here are the senior room reports of the 1916 proclamation!
